Our Story

Where We Began.

God is King Center (GKC) - US was incorporated in 2009, with the official launching taking place in 2010 in Jessup, Maryland. After spending some time holding our Sunday services in Holyday Inn hotel where we held our inaugural service, we moved to a school in silver spring, then to a shopping center in Beltsville, followed by a community centre building around the corner. In the shopping center, for the first time ever, we felt like we were ‘‘home’’, and we experienced God in a special way. Leaving Beltsville was a step of faith because while we felt led by God to move the ministry to Baltimore city, we also realized that very few of our church members at the time lived in that area, so we were basically moving farther away from most of our church members.

GKC VISION

We intend to use a multicultural approach and technology integration to raise people and plant churches through evangelization, making disciples in small groups, and empowering believers to change their communities with the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

GKC MISSION

To apply cultural intelligence as we work to announce the good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom all over the world, to make disciples, and to work for the awakening of the global church and the transformation of local communities.

GKC Statement of Value

We believe that as representatives of the Kingdom of God, we are called to demonstrate and promote the values of our Kingdom in everything we do. GKC seeks to provide an environment in which:

Changing Places

Pulaski Street in Baltimore city turned out to be a place of ministry reset as we found ourselves in a neighborhood where drug addiction, alcohol addiction, prostitution, crimes and poverty were rampant, and we learned to deal with, and minister to a different population.

Journey Continues

As a result of the move, we gradually lost most of our church members, while God started shifting our focus to loving Him serving the community…In Pulaski Street, we learned to do ministry differently and we started experiencing a different kind of provision from God. He started sending resources in the form of people joining us to serve and people gradually volunteered to support us in various ways. In that challenging environment, on the 5th floor of a building that sometimes lacked elevators, AC or heating, our church attendance went drastically down, while our impact in the community increased; we started serving hot meals to hundreds of people on Sunday afternoon, even during the pandemic.

A strategic Partnership

Meanwhile, we started looking for another location in the same area for the church, because we did not want to stop ministering to the community, as we realized that God wanted us to be there. Even though we enlisted a realtor to help us, we could not find a suitable place to rent or buy in the area. Apostle Wang asked us to be patient, because he felt God had a specific hall for us in the area, and we stopped looking for a gathering place. In 2022, Apostle Wang Moise was introduced to Pastor Mike Kemper by a member of the community who regularly came to get lunch from us. Pastor Kemper’s church was a block away from GKC. In 2023, Pastor Mike Kemper who was aware of our challenges in Pulaski street offered us to use his building and serve the community from there. Apostle Moise also felt that God wanted both ministries to work together. Consequently, we moved to Charm City Church, a more convenient and comfortable place in June of 2023 and we started holding joint services with pastor Mike’s congregation.

A New Direction

For one year, we were blessed to work together and serve even more people thanks to their commercial kitchen. In June 2024, issues with building maintenance compelled all of us to stop using the hall for an indefinite period of time. Meanwhile, to prevent any disruption of the ministry/service to the community, God touched the heart of Apostle Geraldine Morton and pastor Kim Lewis and they opened Judah Worship Center, the church across the street to us. We have been there ever since, and the ministry has entered a new season of growth, impact and service to the community.

A New Chapter

More human resources have been sent our way and bigger doors have been opening to us.

We did it

We have successfully acquired the Judah Worship Center building, and we are excited for what God has in store for us. We do appreciate any support or help we can get, as we work to upgrade and maintain the building and pray to be able to get enough donations and support to expand the great works, we have undertaken by faith. The successful contact signing in January 2025 was just the begining of a greater part of our mission.
